Default new car for my mother--

since i'm lazy and i'm also looking for other suggestions--

my mother may be looking for another car, I'm thinking either the new RAV4 or an 06 TL

now i was wondering if any of you guys had any suggestions, i think she wants to stay high off the ground but i'm trying to get her into a car instead, which i think would be the wiser choice because of fuel consumption and ride quality

lets cap the price at 35k

on the TL--
my main concern is that the J-series automatic transmissions tend to be kind of shotty-- have they been any better or are people still complaining?

Have her check out a Ford 500 (a.k.a. Mercury Montego). They're built on the same platform as the Volvo S80, and they're specifically set up to be sedans but give you the feeling of sitting high off the ground like an SUV or minivan. Not particularly fast though.

Subaru Forester or Outback.
Like a car, but taller.

06TL, she won't regret it. Our 05 has 13K miles, and no tranny troubles (yet) :noes:

it's not that wide of a price range-- i mean all things included the rav4 limited decked out comes above the 30k mark, the TL is within a few thousand--

She has a lead foot and enjoys it-- she also wants to be high off the ground and the price has to be reasonable--

the first thing that came to mind is the new rav4, because it's supposedly quick, it's a toyota, an SUV, supposed to handle good and it's has AWD.

the reason i think she'd be better off with a TL:
overall it's nicer, i mean she wants a bit of luxury with what shes buying here, i just dont think a rav4 would cut it, the TL has everything she wants minus being high up in the air around the same 30-35k range.

TL owns the Rav4.
