Default POS starts, a month later POS doesn't start.

Well some of you might remember last November I recieved a DSMPOS 91 Eclipse that I traded a D16 header for. When I picked it up it ran. I drove it probably 3 times all winter because it wasn't that bad out. It sat since January. I tried to start it today to donate it to a friend and the battery was completely dead. We hooked up some jumper cables and it struggled for like 1/2 an hour then finally started. After he took the jumper cables off it died again. To me it sounds like a shot battery. Anyone else?

Edit~ The battery was purchased in November.

Get a voltmeter and test out how much voltage the battery is putting out. If it is above 10.45v it is a good enough battery to start the car. If not might try checking to see how much voltage the starter is putting out. Check ground wires from the battery as well

That 10.45v rule they teach you is so stupid. There's varying amounts of voltage/amps needed to crank different engines.

But for a 4-cylinder it probably applies h:

It's just a no. the ASE likes to use I believe. We've found most 4 cyl's to be ok a little below that with our clip cars we have in lab

if it won't idle without battery assistance the alternators probably shot, the alternator should have enough power to idle the car without any accesories running.

they said they got it started with jumpers but it died after they removed them. I think the alternator and battery need replacing.
