Default ghetto dvd repair w00t!

I just used some of my Turtle Wax Platinum Series: Ultra Gloss wax to fix one of my scratched DVDs. Works like a charm.

when a dvd/cd gets scratched all its scratching is the plastic layer not the actual recording surface. All the wax is doing is filling in the dent made by the scratch and allowing it to play again.

I have used toothpaste for many years to fix small and minor scratches in cds.

toothpaste is an abrasive. so using it is like lightly sanding the disc, to remove the offending scratches.

i find toothpaste to be a bit too abrasive though.

using a polish is probably a better idea. there are good plastic polishes out there.
