I've got one for the week...it's an ok ride but you can tell the cheapness in the materials, the door clank, the cheesy warning bells...you floor it and wait then the engine makes a lot of noise but does move the car

What Year?....My boss has like an 04...I drive it all the time...I actually like it but it handles like a POS..and you can feel every bump and the engine is so :down:

Yeah I've driven an Elantra or two and had the same complaints. Most of Hyundai's lineup is pretty good though.

Its gotta be better than the 4 cylider dodge stratus I had as a rental while mine was in the shop. That was by far the most underpowered car I've ever driven.

Drain half the ATF before you give it back. Take another off the road.

it's nearly brand new (only 4k miles on it)...you floor it and it makes a lot of noise but doesn't move any faster - plus you have to wait for it to shift slowly...i found the best way is to give it gas to let it pull itself using it's low end torque but not enough for it to downshift (this is supposed to have 130hp/130tq but doesn't really feel like it - my old protege5 was like that torquey down low but nothing up top)

i got lost and found a huge parking lot and did a mini autox...it got it into some slides...it's handling is ok so long as you set up the turn and take it easy...if you need to retransition the car in a corner it is basically unresponsive

i'm not dogging on it b/c it seems like good basic transpo and since it's so cheap it's probably a good deal - just to me who highly ranks handling and feel of a car i'd never consider one

i don't think it will be long before it takes itself off the road...it has this strange vibration at random intervals when idling - it's not the a/c as i don't have it on...just weird

yeah, looks cheap, feels cheap, etc.. but it is cheap. that's the point.

as much as people bash them, i still see a lot of older hyundai's on the road, so..
