Default Some Extra Money: GPS V. Mobile Video

I have some extra money... I was wondering what would be nicer or more practical in your opinions. Try to keep it around maybe $700 or less

GPS:

GARMIN StreetPilot Series $399-$500

or

MAGELLAN RoadMate Series $380-$500

In-Dash:

Jensen Multimedia $700

Something along those lines. What do you think is more practical or better. Like do any of you have good success stories or rant stories with GPS or anything?

Thanks

Nice thing about the portable units, is that you can bring them in any car or anywhere you go. Whereas, an in dash deck would be permenantly attached to the vehicle it's installed in. Personally I'd go with a portable unit since I have multiple vehicles.
