Alright well i did my FAFSA on Sunday and they finished my SAR on Monday so I checked my status today, and it tells me that im not eligible for a Federal Pell Grant, which if anyone knows is basically the most important Grant you can get....My parents made 50k and i made 14k so total 64k...I won't get a Pell Grant thats some bullshit...I live with my parents and my 2 brothers and 2 sisters...They need to correct the FAFSA application...It costs my parents a shit load of money to pay for our house that we just moved into..but they dont take that into account..Its 1200 a month mortgage and thats not including utilities and food for 7 people its so much bull shit that im gonna have to shell out money once again to go to school...I still may receive State Aid but it probably wont be enough to cover it.. So i guess i will have to do one thing that i dont like to do and that's get a fucking loan to go to school. So please give me your input.
Pell grants are hard to get. Your parents make $50k/yr in the midwest and have a $1,200 mortgage. Not trying to be a ball buster but that does not fit in their criteria of a pell grant. I did not get one pell grant even though my father made significantly less than that in Washington, DC. I did, however, get $8k/yr in grants from my school

Well my state has a program called 21st Century Scholars....It mainly goes for the students way way below the poverty line...A recent studay done on this program shows that 50% who receive aid from this program never make it through the first year of school they use the refund they get back on bullshit and dont go to school....it needs to be revised seriously.
Yeah I never understood how fafsa worked, but I think that my info should've been around the same as yours. I checked my SAR online but it didn't say anything about it being rejected, soo did you not get a efc number or anything? I want to make sure I got something out spending 30 minutes of my life filling out forms.
