has all these bold (unread) threads or (new posts)... but every time i click into them...i've already seen the last post... i was all excited cuz i had a whole page of new posts... but nope

From the forum listings (not from a specific thread), go up to the "Forum Tools" link near the top right corner of the topic listings, just below the main toolbar.
Click and select "Mark this Forum Read" from the drop-down menu.
You'll be transferred to the Open Forum submenu automatically.
That should fix the problem.
Click and select "Mark this Forum Read" from the drop-down menu.
