Default This really irritates me..

Normally I wouldn't be bothered by stuff like this, but I think the whole thing together is what does it.

At the HUB at our school, clubs have these desks where they can do stupid shit, like sell candy, tell people to join, whatever. Today and yesterday there have been these two frats (or sororoties, whatever), with a sign that they are having a 5k run to "Cure Autism Now!"

Some of you might know, my little bro is autistic, so this is why I'm irritated. There is NO CURE for autism. It really pisses me off that these stupid college kids need to justify that all they really do is drink a lot by pretending their doing good things to the community, when it reality they don't even know what they are doing. I understand that its good that they are at least trying to do some good, but I find it insulting that they think that one day we'll just come up with this magic wand and POOF, my brother is cured and can live a normal happy life, when in reality he'll never be able to fully function in society.

I really want to go over there and give them a piece of my mind. Sorry for the rant.

This is probably the first purely justified rant on HAN by a member.

Is that sarcasm? I don't think it is, but I'm making sure.

Should I say something to them?

if you do say something to them, i wouldnt get pissed at them, you might just want to mention that there is no cure and offer them assistance or something. even though you are upset, it would make you look better than them

Yeah I wouldn't yell. My mom wants to know what charity its going to, since she says they have to write stuff like that down in their books.

That sucks jess, we had a boy try out for minor league last week that was autisitic, and it broke my heart because he tried so hard...

My brother's best friends little boy is also, but he has a slight case of it, definitely still able to function mostly.

Did you see the spot on espn where the autistic boy came into the game and made 6 three pointers in the fourth quarter, he was previously the equipment manager or something.

No I didn't see that. That's sad about the boy trying out

yeah, we are trying to see if all the coaches would want to put him on their teams for a few games a piece and still let him have some fun, but safety is a huge issue.

Well damn, with that attitude they'll never raise the money for research and never be able to determine if there is a cure.
