Your cars suck.
That's what I always thought...but in the J30A1 wouldn't the a/f ratio just stay constant because there's no MAF? Is that why my MPG decreases to sharply when it's colder out, because the fuel system compensates for the denser air by injecting more fuel? My engine sucks balls.

I honestly can't give you a solid answer because I won't be learning about the sensors and all their technical purposes until next semester.

However, based on theory...no, it wouldn't. You have a MAP sensor if you don't have a MAF, and a MAP sensor reads intake manifold pressure, whereas MAF reads air flow speed.

Your pressure won't change when it becomes colder, the air does become more dense with oxygen but the total "density" of the air charge will not be affected.

Stock ECU's are able to fluctuate fuel demand to a degree based on climatic conditions but it's rather limited. Bolt ons will always lean the fuel mixture out. Running a little lean tends to make more power than running rich, but there's always room for improvement.

That's why I/H/E with K200, for example, makes a lot more power than just bolt ons without an ECU reflash.

Thanks Shawn. So why is my MPG 2-3 less when it's 20 degrees compared with 50 or 60?

Colder air only benefits an engine to a point. I think below freezing it begins to have the opposite effect.

You should look into one of the Turbonator things. It will increase your mpg by 35% and give you mad power yO.

That sounds logical to me.

Mine won't get worse than 28 no matter what I do.

With no VTEC for a week though, I noticed that I got an extra 60 or so miles out of a tank. h:
