Default computer memory question...

i just bought a new motherboard/chip (p4,2.8g) that uses ddr400 memory, and i have older pc2700 ddr333 memory from my other computer. can i use the older memory in the new computer? will there be a big loss in performance?

Yes. No. It will run at 333.

You could use the older memory. Even if you were to upgrade to the max spec, I'm not sure if you could tell the difference ... unless you work with Photoshop and Premiere alot.

A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link.

A computer will only run as fast as it's slowest component. (in a manner of sorts)

You will be taking a speed hit, not TOO much, but there will be a decline in speed.
