Default DVD burning programs

Im trying to burn dvd's with my laptop... im currently using dvd shrink to copy and then nero to burn it.

is there any other program that does the same thing as dvd shrink but keeps the quality the same? the quality with dvd shrink seems to go down and my friend said it takes out every other pixel.

the quality goes down because it is not a direct copy unless you have a dual layer burner and dual layer disc
shrink shrinks (compresses) the dvd9 (8.5gb) movie into your dvd5 (4.7gb) disc
the result is loss of quality

Theres no way to compress a DVD and keep the same quality. Using Shrink, maybe taking out the credits and extras and menus will help :dunno:

Shrink does a really good job of compressing if you enable deep analysis and adaptive error compensation. But anything you use isn't gonna be perfect because they have to compress to fit onto a single layer DVD

usually, removing extra audio tracks and blanking out extras keeps compression low (around 80-100%).

I do 2 for 1 copies anyway. But try removing all the extra languages and the audio you wont need (I removed 2 channel and only kept 5.1) saves alot of room.

you can also choose to "re-author" it and just choose to copy the main movie clip. That almost always fits (with just one audio stream) on a 4.7GB dvd with no compression.

PLUS, doing it that way gets rid of all that menu crap and junk. Put the dvd in the player and BAM, it's just there, playing the movie right off.

DVD Shrink with Nero really is the best solution out there.
