Default dying power supply

on my other comp when i turn the power on, it kinda boots up and then the fan starts slowing down and it sounds as if the computer is rebooting. the power like comes on and off...which makes the fan within the powersupply deccelerate and accelerate

i hope i didnt damage anything but it sounds like the powersupply but is odd cuz i never had a power supply die on me (even older comps still run)

im running
AMD 2400+
ECS motherboard
16x DVD burner
250gb WD SE HD
radeon 9800pro

this setup might be overwhelming for the generic PS...
any suggestions? im gonna replace it with another one, maybe my friend has an extra

power supplies aren't unfortunately all made the same. You have to becareful buying a cheap PS. Just cause its a 500w don't necessarily mean its putting out that and if the internals of it are weak or cheap.. g'luck.

received my new powersupply, installed it....and no power.

i took everything out with just the power connected to the motherboard and still no power. (everything includes rom drive, memeory, HD, graphics card and network card)

so either the cpu or the motherboard is bad. im hoping for the mobo because the LAN doesnt work on it either. maybe that was a sign of its faultiness???
