Default the wheels fell off?!

interesting story today at work (frankel acura)...
we have a pretty big fleet of 05 TL loaner cars that customers can take for up to 3 days. well today a customer comes in for maintenance and can't stay, so she's escorted to one of the TL's in an orderly fashion, like normal. she puts the car in gear, and starts to drive off. well her hopes of beating the free loaner up on the streets (like every other customer does) were slammed.. and so was the TL. apparently someone tried to steal the wheels the night before.. but i guess our 'top notch' security guard arrived in time to scare them off. they must have had just enough time to remove all the lug nuts from each of the wheels and then they had to bolt.. well the pictures pretty much show it all.. i feel bad for the TL, and the night security guard, cuz he'll probably lose his job.

He had that happen all the time when I worked for Acura. They'd take TL wheels and TSX wheels that were just dropped off before we had a chance to prep them for the lot.

yeah.. unfortunately i just heard the story from the girl who makes loaner appointments. i guess she'll have to start checking for lug nuts before she assigns cars to customers..

oh it had plenty of prep time. it was inspected for pre-delivery, the tech who did it just didnt put wheel locks on.. they're probably in his tool box..
