I've always wondered that. I doubt i would be able to wake up after only an hour of sleep so i just say stay up. It's either stay up an feel shitty later, or go to sleep and feel shitty during class. :dunno:

I'd have to say it's better to take cat naps than to not sleep at all. In the Army we often have the misfortune of having to stay awake for long periods of time and it's kind of understood that a person needs to at least take naps.

If you sleep you should be sure to be in REM sleep for its maximum time.
Sleepers alternate between REM and NREM sleep four to six times a night, with each cycle lasting an average of 90 minutes, with an average range of 70 to 110 minutes.

I've done both. I was equally as tired.

Take it from the all-nighter master...if you get an hour of sleep, when you wake up you will be very disoriented for quite some time. If you stay up, this grogginess won't be a factor, however, around 7am you will become EXTREMELY tired. Energy drinks will combat this to an extent.

dont go to bed bro, you will get over the hump about mid day and feel awake. then just go to bed at your normal bed time whether you are tired or not. last semester i pulled 4 all-niters and i found that if i even slept for 20 min it messed me all up.
