Default I got some really good news from work.

I've known about this for a couple weeks now but have been waiting for it to become official. Anywho, our WFA Administrator (administers all of our mobile laptops/toughbooks; for field technicians, etc) accepted a position down in Corporate as a Software Developer and I'll be the primary candidate to fill his shoes. There will be some changes in his role and title as myself and another guy from his group (very good friend/coworker of mine) will divide the duties from his existing job and this WFA Administrator position.

I got him into the IT department and he's returning the favor by recommending me 100%. I'm also very cool with their boss and was previously sharing an office at the old building (posted pics before) with the WFA Admin. We are already looking at keeping an office at the main building (where I have a cubical now), and having our primary office at another building in Norfolk which is closer to home. 6 years ago we all started the company at the same time so we've really helped eachother out.

They want someone who's been in the Client role (current position), and has been in IT for a while. He said I've got nothing to worry about and has no doubt in mind that I won't get it. My pay will definitely increase but I'll be joining the Salary crew and enjoy as many days off as I like.

Their boss is about the most laid back person I know. He only has 4 people report to him and I know them all very well. I'm f'n syked!!

My current boss already knows but hasn't mentioned anything to me. I've seen varous signs however of random appreciation for what I do, and to tell me to count as much overtime as I like for all the after hours work I do from VPN or responding to emails from my Blackberry. I waited long enough for my position to be re-titled and a pay increase that was "soon to come" but it never happened. I just accrue more responsibilities and don't see myself going anywhere so this change will be nice.

I'll post an update once I hear more. The main thing is waiting for HR to revise the job position and get it posted. Starting next week I'll be working with the WFA Admin in learning his job in and out.

something similar is happening @ my job too. currently I run maintenance on selective fruit sizers, I take them apart clean them replace broken parts and whatnot and I was told by our plant supervisor that this coming fruit season Im going to become a sizer operator which basicaly runs the machine through a computer, programing drop schedules and selecting various fruit sizes and selections and to what country to ship them too. Im going to be working with 4 other sizer operators who are all great friends of mine so im looking forward to this, but salary wise ill still be getting the same pay until I get enough experience than I too will be making salary :yay:

anyway congratulations OB partner and I hope all goes well, also since you will be making more $$ should the Z be expecting anything soon?

I would do the same Jae if there is no room for advancement. My company is all about hiring within so once you get your foot in the door, you're pretty much set.

congrats.. its hard to find a job you can advance in.

My job doesn't have a whole lot of advancement but it does exist... I started out as a order picker/delivery driver and will be moving upto hoist tech; current guy is leaving. The pay is the same but with time I know it will increase.
