what kind of latency do you get when you try to ping those sites?

weird...when i bring up a command prompt and then enter ping www.aol.com
the next line reads
"Pinging www.aol.com.websys.akadns.net [64.12.131.2]"
each packet fails as well

What happens if you ping -> 64.233.167.99
or if you ping -> google.com

Are the results the same?

I did find that file...should i be deleting that? the path is in my system32 folder

There firewalls prevent ICMP traffic in There is a difference in ICMP and HTTP traffic

That lmhosts file is it lmhosts or lmhosts.sam ?
