on a side note, can anyone ever play a full length dvd movie on there ipod w/o the battery dying..?
Yes, the ripping part does not take too long for me (5 minutes at most) but the converting part is what kills it depending on your settings. For any movie I have that has a lot of special effects, it takes roughly 3-4 hours to convert with the settings I place. If it was a movie that did not need such a thing, it only takes about an 1 1/2 on average.

Thus far I have not been able to play a full-length movie on my iPod Video. On Wednesday I watched Sin City and it ran out of batteries around the one hour and twenty minute mark. I have read on various forums that it takes several charges (from low batteries) to give an accurate reading of the battery life or something along those lines. Just look it up on www.iLounge.com

Yes it converts it completely to mp4. I could only get around an hour into a movie before I have to recharge the iPod.
