I don't really consider seeing the greats retire as a bad thing. You know he's still going to be a huge part of the sport and the league, even if he isn't playing. Seeing somebody like that go just gets you excited for the new crop. Imagine what kind of careers the rookies have in front of them. I can see Marek Svatos being a great in 20 years.

Whats really insane is that these nutjobs play until they're 40+ in what has got to be the most physically taxing sport on the planet. :crazyr:

 playing a 2 minute shift then sitting on the bench for 4 minutes is the most taxing sport?

i doubt that

do you skate?

I agree that it might not be the most taxing sport on the planet but still, 40+ skating like they do and playing as hard as they do stil very impressive!

on a side note, i think soccer is even more impressing they play till 40+ as well and they have to go on for 45 min at a time running and shit in sometimes very wram tempuratures...

they don't get creamed by 100mph slapshots and 250 lb men though.

You definitely have to be in top shape to play hockey.

I look at guys like Hasek, Anderchuck, etc, wonder how they keep on doing what they're doing.

But guys like Gretzky, Lemieux, Messier, those legends only come once in a blue moon. I have yet to see another marquee player since them, and that's a pretty bold statement. The only one, I think, is Crosby.
