On a ranch it may have been allowed but in residential areas I'm sure you would be in jail in a heartbeat if anyone were to ever see it. NH State Law prohibits more than X gallons of gas in a residentially zoned property.

We went through the gas on an average of every 6 months or so.

diesel only got filled once a year unless haying ran long.
