Attn: People who know the cell phone biz...or just retail.
Hi.
I went to the cell phone store and got myself a new phone. I got myself the LG 9800.
I didnt like it at first because it was really bulky. But then I walked around with it in my pocket, and it didnt matter too much anymore. And having the keyboard to text is sweet.
Anyway...question is:
This phone retailed for $499. With the new sign-up, the lady said she will give it to me for $149 and a $100 rebate. Cool...$50 for the phone. Then when she talked about tax, she said I will be charged for the tax off of the $499 price. I was kinda . I thought she should be charging tax on the $150 price. Is she just trying to make a little extra side money, or is this legit practice?
Holler.

i work at a cell fone store... it's a lame california state regulation that breaks california law.. it's total bullshit but there is nothing u can do about it.. they just charge the tax on the total cost... so even free phones (retail 150.00) become about $12 in store after tax
