My Dewalt batteries are 5 years old and are loosing power, I also have a 8 year old Makita battery that is several years dead. This auction promises a procedure to give old batteries new life. Basicly, you pay him 12.95 for him to send you an email to tell you a "simple" way to fix your batteries. He has sold over 2,000 of his "product". I was wondering if anyone knows about it...

Rechargeable batteries just die. The offending item being heat. The higher the voltage of the battery the more likely it will die sooner rather than later. I have 12 volt Bosch drills that are 10 years old and still on the first batteries that came with them. These drills weren't just used occasionally, they were in everyday use. I would typically discharge and recharge four batteries a day in my kitchen and bath remodeling business. Friends and associates also in the business that went to the higher voltage battery units found that their battery lifetime was considerably shorter, due to the heat generated to the central batteries in the cluster. This becomes more apparent as the batteries are in more vigourous use on the job. The old Makita 9.6 volt battery would just wear out but it didn't have batteries wrapped around batteries to keep the heat in.

Think of them as a car more torque, more power uses more gas.
