the taurus had a sick ass v6

the 3.0L made by yamaha.

they also had a 3.8L which foudn it's way into my sable..

i'm pretty sure the 3.0L pushed the 89 taurus into the 15 second range-- and last i checked it made about 200ft-lbs torque and 220 horse with somewhere around a 7k redline

:edit:

for a long time the taurus SHO was considered the fastest FWD car ever made... infact it was said to be ahead of it's time-- this all from my research on the internet on WTF could be wrong with my 3.8L back about 2 years ago

Dude your figures are so off it's ridiculous. The '89 Taurus had the crappy ass Vulcan 3.0 pushrod V6, it made 155HP and was slow as balls.

The Taurus SHO was about as quick as a Maxima in the straight line, but handled like shit, was still a Taurus, and that Yamaha V6 broke often.

God, I know so much useless garbage it amazes me.

The SHO, though it no longer has the commanding lead in the sports sedan market that it did in the late eighties/early ninties, is still one of the most remarkable cars for the price available anywhere. Plus, you get to rub shoulders with all the nice folks on SHOtimes. :-)

.81g's doesnt seem too bad on the handling side of things, neither does pulling in low 15's for a late 80's early 90's FF

My parents owned a 89' Taurus GL with the 3.8L. That engine was powerful but plagued by bad head gaskets and other typical Ford issues.

werd, i honestly can say i had lost many brain cells to that cars ability to smoke out the interior, and i once nearly knocked a little lap dog out with it's exhaust asking the owner for directions.

but still, off the line that thing was a beast, i have yet to have so much fun in any car i've owned, i could pile it up with people inside and it wouldnt phase it at all
