Default Does anyone know

Anything about IBM thinkpads? Particularly on their battery packs? I'm getting my rents old one. The thing is insanely slow, but I think it really needs to be cleaned out and I'm having a friend check it. At this point though, it has no battery pack. I guess my stepdad got rid of it because it wouldn't hold a charge. Do you think its worthwhile to look for a new pack? Or just keep it as is. I'm pretty sure I can use it at the library, since it has the wireless card and I can just plug it in, although it would be easier not to. I'm really mostly interested in bringing it with me when I'm traveling.

IBM Thinkpad laptops have been the best performing for years. They're high quality machines.

Slow, uh? You might want to see if you can get more memory for it. Try cleaning out the CPU fan too. Dust and fuzz bunnies = no fresh air. No fresh air = heat. Heat = slowness.

Check it for spyware. Use Adaware and Spybot.
