Default so what do you do about...

getting a car back to "driving condition" after an accident? I mean, I got in a wreck last week and the airbags went off and stuff...Is it illegal to drive a vehicle that originally had airbags but have already been deployed and not replace them? Can I at least cut out the deployed airbags out myself for now? How much am I looking at to get them replaced (there's only two...)? Do I have to get a salvage title (?) or something like that now, in case I decided to sell it?

Is this the same accident from last week with liability only insurance? You can cut them out and drive it but the IC will junk the car if the airbags came out. It is an automatic total.

I used to hear about repacked airbags-but haven't in a long time. I am not sure if they do that?

As long as the car is street legal there is no rule about driving a wrecked car-in fact it is preferable because if you can't drive it in certain circumstances the IC would have to provide a rental.

Yeah, this is in reference to the accident I had with my Accord. I didn't get anything from the insurance so I have to try to fix the car out of pocket or sell it as-is. I am really starting to think that the car can be fixed for not too much money. The only things that really concern me are the airbags and whether or not the frame bent...I went and ahead and cut out the deployed airbags today because they looked really bad just sitting in there...

if they totaled the car u will have to have it repaired and have it state certified road worthy, and they will issue a salvage title...more than likely if it was salvaged and u do want to make it titleable again u will have to replace the airbags so it can be certified....i think

i haven't gotten any estimates yet because i can't really drive the car anywhere to get it checked out at this point. I know I'm looking at least a new hood, windshield, front end, radiator fans (possibly radiator too), steering wheel...and i think the tow guy said he thought my back passenger-side wheel was bent or something...

and i'll have to think about the whole JDM parts thing....

but they'll probably want to do the work there...and i was going to try to do some of it myself...not all, but some of it at least...i was thinking about tying a rope to my front end and attaching it to a lightpole so i can pull radiator and fans back from the exhaust manifold...or not.
