driving with dealer plates
I think that's the case...but the title is under my name. So that's where i'm confused. unfortunately it's christmas and insurance companies areclosed otherwise i'd just activate it. :happysad:
if the vehicle does not have liability coverage, it is technically illegal to drive that car on public roads. the government could care less if the car itself is covered by insurance or not, theyre just worried about if you, the driver, cause damage to someone else and cant cover the damage costs. the coverages on the car (comp/collision) is enforced by the lienholder not the government.. and the lienholder could care less if the other vehicle is covered or not, because they just want to make sure "their" vehicle is covered so they wont lose out on the loan.

When I bought my R6 I used dealer tags to ride it back home. But I made sure not to fill out the title so I could say that I was buying it for my shop. I ride their bikes around on dealer plates all the time
You can drive it just fine.
Every dealer plate is associated with what's essentially a universal registration and insurance policy. Whatever car the plate is on is covered by the dealer's insurance. Doesn't matter who's driving it or who it's registered to, as long as the dealer has it on record that thusandsuch person will be using that specific plate on that specific car.
When I sold cars, if we had a customer that didn't have insurance, we titled the car to them and let em drive it home with dealer tags on it til insurance arrangements could be made. It wasn't particularly frequent since most people have insurance but it happened a couple of times.
