my laptop finally got so funked that I had to format the entire thing and re-install windows xp....I lost a bunch of my photos/programs/stuff :sad:

 

Thats when you slave your HDD to a desktop and you draw it all off and then re-format. Thats what i always do to save my information. When its slaved often, unless the entire HDD is all coroded with crap, you can pull it off without anything booting.

 

it was alllll fucked up...I could barely get it to boot up.

 

You don't need it to boot if you are slaving the laptop HDD to a different computer. (guessing you didn't have access to another computer?)

 

nope...the only other computer I had available to slave to was my dads computer and he is super anal man about his shit and wouldnt let me for fear I would "totally infect and fuck up his computer" even though I am the one who has to fix all the shit he messes up....but what are ya gonna do.

 

heh...yeah...understandable. I remember when I first lost everything and someone was like...dude you could slave to mine and save all your crap. Yeah that was like a kick in the nuts.

but...then what's the point of having internet access...or a computer for that matter?
