only 17 and already playing the big dow industrials. seems like you're going the safe and steady route. from the companies you currently own, i'd guess you have fairly low risk tolerance.
can you handle big daily fluctuations? if so, since you're young i'd recommend buying into small cap growth stocks. you're taking the right direction by considering stocks like SIRI. i think it'll be a good long-term hold. they're burning through cash like an incinerator right now, but once they turn a profit (could be many years) they'll skyrocket. personally i like small cap, low float, low debt, accelerating earnings growth companies. you can make lots of money quickly or lose it all just as fast if you're not careful. some of my favorites are HANS, ALDA, TRLG, CTHR. i also like COH although that's a mid cap with tame growth.
message boards are actually a good place to educate yourself. i read yahoo boards all the time. but you just gotta learn to sift through all the bullshit posts. once you figure who the knowledgeable members are, you can learn a lot.
