One of my close friends was killed this past weekend. I found out on Monday and I was devastated. I went to my friend Daves house for a birthday party he was throwing for this guy Preston. It was a nice little gathering, and the vibe was good. Little did I realize that this was the last time I would see Trey again. I gave him five and left. Then Monday Dave called me and informed me that he was dead. Apparently what had happened was these two guys, Jake and Chris, were wrestling in the living room, both were fucked up. Trey was in the living room as well. Jake had a loaded .40 cal on him with hollow tip rounds. In the middle of their wrestling, the pistol fell out of Jakes pocket and went off, hitting Trey in the neck. He was dead by the time EMS arrived.

This was such a freak accident...It blows my mind. Jake swears up and down that he had no intention of harming anyone, but I just don't understand why he had to bring a loaded gun to a party, why it wasn't on safety, and how the hell it went off. I've just been so consfused, depressed, but moreso, angry since this happened. I'm angry that Jake brought a gun to the party, and I'm furious that a great guy had to die at 23 over something so stupid. It really kind of opened my eyes to how short and precious life truly is. It also made me think, what if I didn't leave when I did? What if I was in the room when the gun went off? What if it was me instead? I had to vent about this. I haven't talked to many people about this, and it's been eating me up. Keep his family in your prayers, if you can. Thanks for listening.

 

o man thats horrible.. so sorry to hear that man. that fact that makes it even worse is that it was something so simple and could of been avoided so easily..

thanks for the support guys...I was curious for those of you that are familiar with the law...Do u think Jake (the guy who's gun it was) will get charged with involuntary manslaughter? Or is that only if the family presses charges?

 

The only thing I could see would be criminal negligence maybe...I don't know what the laws are about carrying weapons in your state.

 

And thats why I dont own a gun.

 

Did he have a permit to carry?
