Default car for 1.5k

this girl i've known for a few years needs a car to learn to drive in and that will last her at least a year for less than 1.5k

any ideas, it has to be automatic, and it has to run strong, the civic collection around here is shot (zip code 06825 or 06432) so if anyone has the free time and wouldnt mind looking up a few cars they know to be reliable in her range i know she'd appreciate it. honestly i've been looking and pickings are slim

meh, and to give you motivation here is the backstory:

her father is really not in the picture, her mother isn't helping much with the car situation or anything for that matter and as she put it when i offered to teach her in my car "your car is worth more than my HOUSE" she's in highschool and holds up 30 hours a week of work while taking major ammounts of classes to make up for the classes she missed while her father ripped her out of her town up to maine for no apparent reason other than to prove some stupid point.

if any of this were overplayed i'd be the first to call drama queen, but to be honest everything that has happened to her has been out of her hands and it'd kinda be nice for me and a few of our friends to chip in a few bucks to get her into a car because right now she really needs one to get from school to work to home and to errands in light of the holiday season.

what happens if it breaks down before we get it back in town? lol thanks for looking man, i'll give them a call and try to get some truths out of them. as well as maybe chopping the price down to 1k because "the car's as old as she is"

It has 118,000 miles on it. If it's properly maintained, which it looks to be, you'll be more than fine.

a G2 (90-93) integra will go for 1.5k (more of the 90-91) it will have high mileage (170k+) but it will run for A LOT more, iv got a 90 LS with 207,700miles on it and its still running strong (and yes i have beaten her a bit...cant break her )

Yeah maybe, but it sounds like she doesn't have a lot of money to spend.

Insurance on an older Corolla is peanuts compared to any Integra.

Connecticut would be the same way. But if there's no visible rust in that picture, my guess is it hasn't seen a lot of road salt because being a 1989 it'd be bad by now.
