My roommate has been looking at TV's and new LCD monitors recently and it was just a matter of time before he bought one. So, he buys this 26" LCD for his room to use with his computer. So he was showing it to me last night and talking about how he wants go get an HD box for it. I was a bit :bandito: and said, "Well if I am getting a Tivo and if you get the HD box, we might as well put it out in the family room and have this big entertainment setup". Currently we have his 27" Toshiba flat tube tv out there. So he goes off about how if he had thought of this before he would have just bought the 32" version or maybe a 42". So, after allowing him to argue with himself for 20 minutes, I think he is returning his to get a 32" LCD. We debated over going bigger but his assumption is that if he is going to go bigger he would like to spend more money to get a higher quality tv and cannot afford that yet. So, is it bad I accidently convinced my roommate to put his new toy in the common area for mutual enjoyment?

 

no, I don't think what you did was bad. If he doesn't mind buying a nice TV for the two of you to share then it just sounds like he's a cool guy. If you feel that you take advantage of him on a regular basis then maybe it was bad. But if both you guys share each others stuff all the time then I don't see a problem.

 

nope i know if i buying a 32" lcd i would be very tempted to get a 42" instead... now that you gave him a reason to get the bigger one he will. I am sure he was just looking for an excuse to get it anywais.

 

I'm using my 27" as a multi-purpose PC monitor/tv ... if it were purly a TV, then I'd have no worries about sharing it.

 

i would not be having this argument with my roommate because:

1) i live alone
2) i can't afford nice tvs
3) i'm sure if i had a roommate, neither of us could even combine our resources for a nice tv.
