Yes, in a wonderful marketing ploy by microsoft.

When supply < demand, demand will go up from where it was before the sale.

Simply meaning, people want what they can't have. It's not avaliable and it's the hot new thing. Demand is through the roof. Most stores got less than 50 units yet had, easy, 100 people lined up.

Sold out ... is an understatement.
