buying a hatch this weekend. Need help with money situation.
Ok, here is my situation.
I'm buying a hatch for my k project this weekend.
It's located in Southern California, I'm flying down there to pick it up and drive it home to Utah, about 700 miles.
Here is my situation. The guy I'm buying from wants cash. He is fine with me bringing a cashiers check, but we have to go to the bank and cash it, then I give him the money and he signs the title. He is afraid that the check might be fake so he wants to cash it right then.
My fear however is that the bank might not want to cash it, especially because its Wells Fargo. My check is 100% legit, but because of recent fake cashiers checks I have heard of banks holding the check til it clears (usually three days).
I "could" bring cash but that is extremely risky to me. I'm paying 4k, so having 40 benjamins while on a plane or in the airport doesn't seem smart at all.
What would you guys do? I have tried my best to assure the guy the check is definately real, but I'm afraid if I get to the bank they might hold it and the guy will be reluctant to hand over the title without the cash.
Any ideas? I'm flying out tomorrow night.

Take the 4 grand in cash.
It's not that much money so if you get asked about it (doubtful) just tell the truth and be as proffessional about it as possible.

ok thats what I was thinking. Now how to I go about protecting the cash on in the airport and preventing my shit from getting stolen. Just watch it closely? I'm just worried about someone jacking it, or stealing my wallet, stuff like that

get those pouches that you wear under your sweatshirt. it is liek a sling type thing and is very close to your body. NO ONE would be able to jack money from there unless of course somone jumps you.
so id carry something in the shape of a kubotan.

Ummm...how old are you?
because I fly with about 15 grand worth of gear in my carry on as well as cash, phone, etc. pretty regularly and have never had a problem.
Heres what you do....take the money and fold it in half, then band it once and put it in your front pocket. Take your spending money and put it in the other pocket...don't put your hands, your phone, or your keys in the pocket with the money. Do not take the money out for any reason except when you purchase the car.
