Stephen Davis or Thomas Jones?
One of my fantasy teams has 2 starting RB spots and I have 3 startable RBs. Shaun Alexander is a no-brainer, and then for the other spot I have Stephen Davis or Thomas Jones.
Davis hasn't been as shifty or explosive as he was before returning from his injury, and his yardage total is pretty low, but he has 9 touchdowns on the season. Carolina might start giving DeShaun Foster some of Davis' carries, but it is very clear who the goal line back is. This week the Panthers are playing the Bucs who have the best defense in the league in terms of yards allowed, but in all of their games their opponents have scored at least 17 points so Davis should still get a goal line look or two.
Jones keeps getting injured, but he keeps getting well enough by gametime to put up solid numbers. The Bears have good blocking up front, and Jones usually has 20-25 carries a game. This week the Bears are playing the Saints whose run defense is crap which could give Jones big yardage opportunities.
Stats for the season:
Davis - 358 yd rushing, 44 yd receiving, 9 rush TD, 0 fumlost
Jones - 713 yd rushing, 72 yd receiving, 6 rush TD, 2 fumlost

Jones is a beast for 2 reasons.
1. The O line is pretty dominating. Nobody gets a hit on Orton and they know how to open gaps.
2. Jones is playing pissed off. The guy has a career year in 2004, and how is he rewarded? They draft Benson and give him an 18M contract for doing nothing.
The Bears O is designed to take pressure off of Orton. The Bears plan to win games via the ground game and short passes, not Manning like numbers.

Davis...he's a workhorse that scores everytime when in the redzone. He's got 9 TD's so far this season...and considering what kind of injury he had last season, that's pretty amazing, considering he wasn't supposed to play until around now or so. But he healed sooner and got out there and is kickin' ass.
