KRA, I consider myself a pretty good skier myself and I am very partial to my K2 Omni's and K2 Apache Crossfires.
Make sure you get a deep side cut (17 or 18mm) for ice and crap.
My biggest suggestion is go to a demo day and get on 40 pairs or so and figure out which one you like most.

I used to instruct at the ocal mountain and spent a year at another resort doing lift op. When the mountains were losed we would hike for our turns up in the Big Hole which was good until about mid to late June, from there we would trek over to Beehive Basin or up to Glacier National Park which is good year round.
Yeah we spent more days on a board than off a board, one year (Janurary to Janurary) we counted up 348 days total.

usually you can talk to a ski shop then and see if you can get a couple of different brands.
I know a couple of guys at wisp and they let me take stuff out and try them, and then bring them back and try something else.
But like I said, I am very partial to my K2 skis, I went from an ok skier to a pretty darn good one...
i gotta move there.. :happysad:
the only difference i found between my k2's and the salomons that i had, was the speed, but i think that was just because i didnt wax or sharpen the k2's for like 2, 3 years
