Mine was about 35 or 40. They live for I think 6-10 years or something. Mine only lived for 1-2 though. I had a salt and pepper colored one (First two). Maintanence(sp) is easy. Just clean the cage once a week, feed and give water. They like attention and running wheels/balls. They get along great with cats and dogs, but you have to becareful with the dogs, they can harm them by accident. They can 'purr' and make little noises when they're happy and they lay down their spikes. Sometimes they foam at the mouth with spit and start covering their quills with it, but thats to keep them clean and the spikes strong.
Now I really want to get another one...

Heh...Hamsters can swim very well..I used to have a couple. They don't live long though(Mine died of natural causes, one vomited up its insides). I made a lego boat for them and they loved it so much they would jump out into the water in the tub.
I got mine at my local pet store. Call around and ask if they have hedgehogs. The place I got mine from had lots of animals. It had suger gliders (Way cool) chinchillas, an Anteater(Not for sale) an alligator(not for sale) and lots of other exotic animals. I'd just call around and find a few places with them. When you get there, spend time playing with them to make sure they're friendly. Read up about them on the internet before hand too.
I have to go. I have class in 3 minutes.
