Why does my ECU give me CEL codes that don't exist, I am positive I'm reading it right. short blink, short blink, long pause, long blink, long blink, short blink, short blink, short blink, long pause, repeat. So that should be 2 and 23. 23 doesn't exist, 2 means oxygen content. I keep getting these from time to time. Any ideas here?

 

code 23 on a OBD1 car is knock sensor. WHat year is your car and motor?

 

It's an obd-0 B16a.

are you looking in a US code book/manual? maybe the code is a jdm specific code.

 

I have the EDM SiR manual on my computer. I should try and find one's that are JDM in case they are different. I know there are some differences between the engines. A couple weeks ago I figured out it has different vaccum stuff than the EDM model so it's a possibility. I haven't been able to find a list of JDM codes though.

 

Those codes would make sense with the shitty gas I put in even if one isn't listed, maybe 1.5-2 gallons of 100 octane wasn't enough to bring it up. I'm just fill it with a tank of good gas next time and hope they go away. The only weird thing with the knock sensor code is it refers to a defective one, not that the engine is knocking. Whatever, I'll just put good gas in it and see what happens.
