Be careful depending on model there can be alot of ribbons you have to disconnect.

so try opening my laptop up and physically disconnect the cord goign to my cd drive? and then what?

well theres 2 thinkgs you can do

the easiest is to get an external cd rom drive (USB) and use that to install and test to see if its the problem.. just make sure you disable your current one.. if thats the issue, then you need to purchase/get a new drive and then we should provably tinker

alright, well i dont have an external cd rom drive with me, so ill try and disconnect the cable... i might be able to find a friend who has a external cd rom drive.

thres no reason to disconnect unless you know its the prob.

I suggest getting the external first..

unelss you have a spare laptop dvd drive, then you can remove the old one and replace to test, otherwise you're risking alot (manufacturer warranty voids)
