capital one offered me a check in the loan amount of the car i was going to buy. basically, if i can get the car price to be less than the loan amount, that was all i needed to borrow. and the check would be good to go as soon as i sign it at the dealer, giving me somewhat similar leverage as if i had full cash.

but, the audi dealer actually was able to finance me for a better apr than capital one so i went with the dealer instead h:

ooh a reply thx. actually ur case is very helpful. so... even thought they accepted your application and gave you a check, you're not bound in any way shape or form to use them right?

not liable for the loan until you use it... since i never used the check, it automatically expired and became void in 30days or something like that. i forgot.

but if i remember correctly, i think if qualified, they couldve gotten (at the time) an APR of 4.5%.
