Default GEEK SQUAD! IE6 crashing...help

My gf's laptop keeps crashing with IE6. Now I installed firefox and would be totally fine using that all the time, but Windows update won't update thru firefox. Anyone know what I can do or how to fix IE?

thanks

tried that already her IE6 is a newer version, and I don't know how to fully remove it. I uninstalled but it's saying it's still there.

I did it again, the windows error reporting thing pops up saying:

Error Signature
EventType: InPageError P1: c000009c P2: 00000003

involving Explorer.exe, appcompat.txt

Run error checking on the drive and report back to me.

Right Click the drive; Properties; Tools; Click Check Now, check both boxes. It'll prompt you to run on restart, hit Yes. Restart computer.

It's reporting a lot of bad sectors and not enough space to fix them
