Airbags arent anything to mess with. We set one off at school(with it lying on the ground), it was bad. First time I had ever seen one go off in person.

Deer usually don't slow the car down enough to set off airbags.

not true...now if you tamper with an airbag and then say sell the vehicle, and the vehicle is in an accident where the safety device should have deployed but didnt, then you are liable...if you never ever plan on selling the vehicle, than you arent going to very well file a lawsuit against yourself. The same is with dealerships, that is why isntead of servicing aribags 99.9% of the time the whole unit is replaced.

no, if your car came with an airbag the airbag system needs to work. otherwise you can face a fine.

what you are discussing is another part of the fraud... but thats post accident... there is stuff regulating against it before you get into an accident aswell.

maybe it varies from state to state, but I know for a fact that disabling your airbag system in Michigan is not an offense unless sold to another person without disclosing the fact that it has been disabled/tampered with...and even after disclosure you can still be held liable for failure of said system.

I'm pretty sure it is legal to change out the steering wheel to one that has no airbag, as long as you do not tamper with the sensers on the car and stuff.
