I have winxp on my laptop and yesterday try to install sp2. When the laptop rebooted it gave me error, something about bootsys.. inf file not being there. I did some reading and found that I need to install winxp cd, well the problem is I don't have one. I do have a cd from my HP desktop which I tried using. It worked but then asked me for Administrator password. I didn't know what it was, and leaving it blank didn't work, I tried some hacking programs in linux to try and change it and that didn't work. I have no idea what to do now. I don't think I ever had a password for administrator but when I just hit enter on that field I message that it was wrong pw. Anyone have any ideas? I don't want to reload xp at all.
try "Jack The Ripper." It's a program that blanks the admin password from DOS so you can do your thang. I don't know what the link is but I am sure that you can find it if you go0ogle it.
