Default Anyone own an air compressor?

Any particular air compressor you guys recommend for a reasonable price? My cousin just bought a house and I need to get him a house warming gift. Might as well get something i can use too He's building a pretty nice garage, (ill get some pics over the weekend) but hes missing an air compressor.

I own one. Buy a craftsman. but one that has 6cfm or higher at 80psi? maybe 90psi and buy one with a decent hp motor. like 3hp or more. all this wont be cheap so adjust accordingly.

agreed. I have a craftsman 15 Gallon, 3.5hp 150psi max. Works awesome, but refills alot because it's so small.

But i picked it up for $149 with a bunch of accessories.

Yeah, I'd say go with at least a 15. You can get em as small as you want, but anything under say.... 5 wont do a lot of what one would want to do in a garage.

Yeah the 10 gallon tanks we had on the solar car will run an impact wrench at full power for about a minute or so only (because the pressure drops below 80 psi). Actually, if you have the money to spend (and you don't need to cart you compressor around too much) I would get a 20 or 20 gallon tank for air tools. And the having a nice compressor motor on top helps things greatly.

i bought my dad a porter cable a few years ago for xmas. i can't remember the exact model, but i did a ton of research to get something appropriate in his range, and decided on that one. it's solid as hell.
