Default Projector

I want to buy a new projector, but I'm afraid of all the shit on the internet and I can't get an unbiased review...

Basically its a home theatre use projector, and its goign to be in a room where ther ewill be sunlight.. even after I try and minimize it. I think I want DLP because it allows for greater contrast ratio, but I read the picture wasn't as crisp as LCD. I should also mention I am in the max $2000 price range.

What do you guys think about the InFocus X3

I use the inFocus 4805 daily, i have been very very happy with it. It has many features in common with the model you listed, inFocus seems to be the brand to go with for qaulity on the lower end of the price spectrum.

this site is full of good info / reviews and is a good source of info
http://www.projectorcentral.com

for my infocus 4805, complaints are:

noisy fan
have to turn it off manually (switch instead of being able to use the remote)
The Component input requires an adapter (came free but still for an elegant look no adapter would be nice).
It has probably the worst table top stand I've ever worked with, hard to adjust and get just right.

people complain about having to manually focus, I don't see this as a big deal

Pros
The picture is KILLER even in the day / with lights on.
for the price it is a bargain.
Looks good on a crappy screen / wall, way better then the Dell projectors I have experience with.

You'll read about "rainbow effect" I don't see this at all, nor has anyone who's been over.

Reasons why I don't like projectors period.

1. Noise
2. Bulb Life
3. Only a good picture really if you use a digital feed

True words ^, but you can't beat the picture size for the money, Playstation games on a 101 inch screen do add a level of uncomparable dopeness..

and #3 is true for all displays, you never get better then what you put in, i would say even composite (the yellow RCA looking cable, cnsidered the worst input) looks better on a projector at night then any non-HD tv set.

I think I decided on the HP vp-6320

important specs:

lumins:2500
contrast ratio: 2000:1
DLP
XGA (1024x768) -- its the native res.
and it can do up to a 1080i hdtv feed ( I couldnt find one that did progressive)

It has DVI input and s-video and I think some other stuff

all for ~$1000 after a friends CC discount + hp rebate...
