true Irish people do not flaunt that they are irish. whenever I go out on st. patty's day in boston(as irish as you can get), you can tell who is irish at the real irish bars.(ex. the black rose) they all have pale skin, or are really red in the face from taking down a few beverages. I'm personally irish, german, and welsh and just like true irish I don't feel the need to flaunt my herritage. people that do flaunt are just posers.

Nationalities are becoming fashionable.

Not so melting pot. Maybe people want to be individual again?

werd. i dont think it's a bad thing either :dunno:

As for the thread, I think the whole ethnic pride thing varies by region. In the northeast, there's a lot of Irish and Italians. Here in Milwaukee, you have a lot of germans. In Chicago, you have a lot of Polish (and some Italians). In MNPLS/STP you have a lot of scandanavians. In TX you have your mexicans and in CA you have your Asians and mexicans.

I'm part irish, and I could care less. One of my teachers is straight from Dublin, and all he cares about is that he thinks its funny people wait in line at the bars at 8 am on St Patty's day (he says in ireland they wait to 10 or 11 at least )

I think what LT is saying that he doesn't like are people who aren't Irish wearing Irish stuff like the Middle Eastern guy he saw wearing an Irish t-shirt.
