What kind of music is indie?

 

Hard to explain. Its sorta mellowish rock.

In popular music, indie music (from independent) is any of a number of genres, scenes, subcultures and stylistic and cultural attributes, characterised by (real or perceived) independence from commercial pop music and mainstream culture and an autonomous, do-it-yourself (DIY) approach.

But its sorta evolved into a genre of music. Most of it is mellowish. I like the song alot. PM me if you want some music.

Indie music is just a shortened term for Independant music. It really doesn't have a specific style, it could be anything. It's just off the mainstream path. It's like saying garage band. It not always rock or punk, it commonly is, but it could be anything from country to folk to classical.

On a side note, I think the term 'indie' should not be used... too confusing with Indian music from India.
