The public v. private school debate...
Now I'm going to be transferring out of community college next semester. Yeah, hoo hurah.
I am having a hard time deciding if going to the University of Rochester would be a better choice than the University at Buffalo. Now, bare in mind that there is a 30,000/5,000 tuition difference, and I'd have to find a place to live in Rochester.
I'm just looking for people that are a few years past college. Does it really matter?
UoR is ranked 34th in a magazine poll, and UB is ranked in the low 100's. So there happens to be a significant difference in perceived quality of education. I also applied to Cornell, which would make this a slightly easier decision, but they don't really like transfer students. We'll see.

My brother-in-law is currently at UB and seems to like it quite a bit. He still lives at home and commutes. From what I know UB is a pretty decent school...definately some nice facilities. My wife hung out there in college when she went to Buffalo State and from what I hear she had a fun time.

Buff State is teh suck from what I've heard. An ex girlfriend of mine that turned nutso went there...median SAT score is like 880 or something ridiculously low.
Cornell is right up the road from me right now. Awesome school. UB is a very good school and an excellent value...I say if Cornell or UofR don't offer you any good scholarships package, go to UB. I got great scholarships from my college that cut the price down to almost SUNY levels so it was a no brainer for me.
