that's the tow hook the strap is anchored to, unless you back out like a stunt driver you would ruin anything except the pole if it's weak and maybe the hood if it falls.

Bwahaha. How strong do you guys think that sign is? Just drive away and the sign will bend until you can rip yourself free.

that doesn't look like the everyday flimsy sign post, looks like either steel or concrete to me.

Somehow I think the urethane bumper would give before the STEEL AND CEMENT SIGN.

its hooked around the tow hook...not the bumper....so I am pretty sure it would pull the sign over before it tore the frame ont teh vw
