Default Why go with name brands only?

I keep hearing people say that I should go with only name brands when buying cold air intakes or filters and other such things? The name brand ones are a lot more expensive compared to JDM stuff. I know there is a reason for it to be so much more expensive but what is it? Are non name brand things really that bad?

AEM, Skunk 2, Tein, ApexI, GReddy, etc. All spend UnGodly Amounts of money on research and development. To Make the parts they sell Fit and Perform the Best on and off the racetrack, as well as Comply with local and federal laws (in some cases/states) The Cheap "Knock Off" Parts Are made in mass quantitys and are usually poorly designed/produced disgraces.

And in the World of After Market Parts .. YOU always ALWAYS get what you pay for.

who you going to goto if you have a problem?

What name are you going to tell someone if you really like it and suggest they get one too?

How do you know it's not just some guy in a basement making pipes?

If it's not going to help, why actually get one at all?

How is some guy in a basement going to know if it's going to help make anything better?

There's tons of reasons you don't just buy noname cheap knockoff stuff. Be it for a CAI or a whole car.

Are you talking OEM JDM stuff, or wannabe knock off JDM stuff? For the most part, the high dollar aftermarket is better. It will make more power, or make your suspension better than the OEM JDM stuff. Knock off stuff is just ridiculously cheap, and very bad.

It's a no-brainer. You get what you pay for.
