Is braided fishing line worth using?
I use that as my backing on my fly fishing rod when I go fishing for tarpon and permit in florida.
I know its tough stuff but is it worth using? I know its a bitch to remove if it tangles.
Spiderwire makes a nice braided line.
ex: 20lb test strength and only has a 6lb diameter.
This is for Saltwater fishing.
fishing for, bluefish, striped bass, and whatever else tries to take the bait.

Flyfishing for tarpon/bone you are the MAN.

Lived in Fl for a while but didn't flyfish. Regular fishing I know that tarpon can give a quick turn and cut wire leaders. Have only caught 2 tarpon, both while fishing for other things.
Neither required special equipment as I wasn't intending to catch them. Both caught while fishing under causeways on the intercostal. Used mostly live mullet, 60lb mono leader, 20lb test.
Curiously, both my tarpon catches were at night. Both were under 30lbs.

The tarpons I caught were about 20lbs. Thats small for those types of fish.
I've never been bone fishing but thats in my Things to do in life book.
Fly fishing for permit was pretty cool. They fight but they dart like crazy.
Expect a tarpon fight to last over 1 hr on fly fishing equipment.
