Default How much do you guys tip the bartender?

I tip like $1 a drink. But the thing that pissed me off today was when the bartender didn't even mention anything about the medium sized beer glass and just gave me the large which was $1 more. Then I just checked my debit card just now online and she ended up putting down a $5 tip instead of the $3 I wrote down on the reciept. :squint: And yes, I wrote it clearly..

Man, I'm never going back there again.

$1 per drink. If I notice they do an extra good job making the drinks (not laying off the booze ... diff sized cups than usual) I tip more

If I'm going to be out for a long time then I will tip $1 for mixed drinks and $0.50 for a beer (I don't drink beer but I grab them for friends when I go up). If I'm not going to be out long I tip $1 for everything.

Oh and for shots I will tip about $1 for every different shot or $0.50 for a single. If I order like 10 shots of something the bartender only has to make up one batch and pour it into the shots so I will tip like it's one drink.

don't put it on your card next time. I'd dispute the charges if you really want to piss off the bar.

as a restaurant mgr, check your online statement to see if it says charges pending. a lot of times, when a company that has charge tips, runs your card, they will usually get an approval for about 20% more than the charge due to the assumption that you could leave a tip that large. if so , wait about 3 days for the charge comanies to "settle", i.e. bar to bar's bank, to credit card company, to your bank, to your account.

anyway, i tip about a buck a drink, unless i run a tab,in which case depending on the tender, anywhere from 20%-45%. sometimes for 1 beer, even about 90%, but only to those i know pretty well @ my fav. bar, cause they always take care of me before anyone else.
